Serie UP, a well-known collection of chairs designed in 1969 by Gaetano Pesce for B&B Italia, was recently awarded the prestigious XXVII Compasso d'Oro ADI in 2022, an important recognition awarded to excellence in Italian design. The armchair will feature an antique gold-coloured upholstery in the exclusive CD fabric, while the spherical pouf, covered in bronze-coloured fabric, will be connected to the armchair by an aluminium chain with a Corten finish. The UP has often been interpreted as a poetic witness to the complex relationship that the female figure has in different socio-cultural contexts. The sinuous and enveloping shape of the armchair seems to recall the curves of the female body, while the 'curled up' position of the user inside the UP evokes the idea of protection and comfort. In short, the Serie UP Compasso D'Oro armchair represents a perfect union between technological experimentation and formal research, but it is also a product that evokes a vision of civil commitment to design.

In 2019, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of its birth, the UP5_6 armchair continues to be extremely topical and sought-after, so much so that it has led the B&B Italia company to invest in technology and increase production capacity to meet the growing demand. Today, the UP5_6 has even become the brand's best-selling armchair.

The limited edition armchair is available in a single finish and a single size of cm.120x130x103h  while the spherical pouf has a diameter of cm.57.
