The kinetic artwork titled Contemporary Work of Art, born from the creative genius of Sandro Tomassini, features a lacquered wooden structure containing 11 plexiglass panels. The first panel is decorated with a question mark, ironically representing the question that the viewer asks when faced with a piece of contemporary art; the second panel explicitly states that it is a modern artwork.
The other "pages" contain texts, each taken from the dictionary of a specific country, expressing what is meant by art; the writings are made with different fonts and colors, through which the author has evoked the various nationalities involved: thus, Italy is represented by blue, Spain by red, China by yellow, Arab countries by brown, and so on.

With the abstraction obtained by overlapping the various characters and colors of the panels, the author wanted to evoke the abstraction that Pollock achieved by (randomly) dripping colors, an abstraction that, by allowing the user to easily move the various pages, continuously changes, highlighting the interactivity and playful aspect of the work. Another reference of the work is to globalization, as numerous languages from all over the world are present, and the identity of the author is hidden behind them, thus suggesting that he could come from any country.

Presented at the Premio Arte Mondadori in 2023, this work was selected as a finalist and was exhibited at the Museo della Permanente in Milan.
