The kinetic artwork From the Die to the Pyramid by Sandro Tomassini, when closed, is a perfect cube representing a die, with the classic white dot numbers on a black background. When open, it can take on various configurations. The cube is made up of six pyramids, each with different colors and images; the die represents the game, and according to the artist, life is a wonderful game that, like a die, continually changes.

One pyramid is painted with bright colors to symbolize joy, positivity, and the energy of life; another with black and white horizontal stripes represents the sacredness of death. There is a silver pyramid and a gold one, symbolizing Isis and Osiris; another depicts the mirrors of the soul, while the sixth symbolizes history told through writings. Finally, from the paganism of the pyramids, the work transforms into the religiosity of the Cross, a shape the artwork assumes when fully opened.

Presented at the Premio Arte Mondadori in 2012, this work was a finalist and was exhibited at the Museo della Permanente in Milan.
