In the artwork OTI 7 - ICO by Sandro Tomassini, strictly in black and white, the artist aimed to bring together three important characteristics of his stylistic signature: interactive, kinetic, and optical art. It is interactive because it requires touch to assume its many possible forms and images. It is kinetic because by positioning the 18 vertical elements in certain ways, the artwork can appear entirely white or entirely black depending on how the viewer moves. It is optical because once all the slats are positioned on the checkered black and white side, it produces a strongly optical effect.
